First cosmetic products by Mila Opitz-Altherr
Skin problems motivate the young native of Appenzell, Emilie Opitz-Altherr (*1903), to experiment with care substances. In cooperation with a dermatologist, Emilie (Mila) Opitz, succeeds in creating an
innovative novelty: a hormone cream. She founds the cosmetics company Milopa, an abbreviation of the name Mila Opitz-Altherr.

Official founding of the company Milopa
Mila Opitz-Altherr founds the company Milopa officially: the company is entered into the commercial register and the factory is built.

Export of Milopa products begins
With its new and cutting-edge products, Mila Opitz-Altherr takes center stage in the cosmetics industry in Switzerland and worldwide. Export of products begins in 1950. The company is recognized as a pioneer in the
industry and together with its brand value, "The golden point of beauty", drive their success.

1965
Milopa re-brands
Milopa re-brands its name to Mila D'Opiz
, setting high export goals and achieving them.

1986
New and improved modern facilities
The move to the new facilities in St. Gallen is a huge milestone in the company's history. The new building and laboratories make it possible to realize what the company has wanted for a long time: production for third-party companies. The modern laboratories for microbiology and analytics as well as the well-equipped development department, enable additional services and the acceptance of research contracts in the area of cosmetics.

1994
ISO certification – a first in the cosmetics industry
Mila D'Opiz is the first Swiss cosmetics company to be ISO-certified (quality certificate ISO 9001). Seamless and stringent quality control from the delivery of the raw materials to packing and distribution, allow Mila D'Opiz to be the only cosmetics manufacturer in Switzerland approved to produce and package pharmaceutical products. The company is ahead of the times, already complying with standards that will be introduced in the EU in 1997.

1999
Founding of the cosmetics academy ARCOS (Academy for Cosmetology)
Mila d'Opiz establishes ARCOS, its own cosmetics academy, a unique education and training centre in St. Gallen. ARCOS is also ISO-certified and upon completion of training, students receive the highly recognized international CIDESCO diploma and the Swiss Federal Certificate of Competence (EFZ).

2016
Expanded production, further innovations and awards
Production is further expanded with new machines and systems. With the "Phyto DS Forbidden Serum", Mila d'Opiz, continues to lead in the cosmetics industry with its innovative products. The company is continuously recognized in the industry, receiving the "European SPA & Health Award" for the most innovative cosmetics product in Switzerland.
